Jar Of Cash
White Blossom Close-Up

What happens in the first session?

The first session is our chance to establish rapport and connection. It's mostly focused on getting to know you—your story, your goals, the relationships in your life and what brought you to therapy. Nervousness is totally acceptable in the beginning; most share that they feel that way at the start. However, it is our sincere hope that you do not leave feeling the same way.

Is everything confidential?

Almost.

Unlike Vegas, what's said here stays here, with a few notable exceptions:

  • Any reports of abuse, either received or perpetrated, may or may not have to be reported--depending on circumstances.

  • Any credible threats of harm, to yourself or anyone else, definitely have to be reported.

What are your privacy practices?

They can be found here.

Do I have to physically be in California for the appt.?

Yes, by law, you must be physically here in California, not just a resident. So you cannot be travelling outside of the state or country for the appt. I can only practice in the state in which I am licensed.

Golden Gate Bridge
Praying Over Bible

Do you offer faith-based counseling?

Yes. I am more than happy to integrate spirituality into your therapeutic experience through prayer, use of scripture and/or discussions about your faith journey.

How long does therapy take?

Each session is 50-minutes.

As to how long it takes before you're "better", that is wholly dependent upon you.

Like a fingerprint, everyone's therapeutic journey looks different. You may be coming in to address a singular, uncomplicated issue--in which case, your time in therapy will be shorter. Or you might be coming in to address several, more complicated issues--which will likely take more time to unravel. Either way, we'll assess what needs to be addressed from the outset and determine a gameplan.
